Overview

This two-day live Symposium at Memorial Sloan Kettering focuses on the surgical and multidisciplinary management of colorectal cancer.

Thursday, November 9 will focus on the surgical management of colorectal cancer. The morning will feature live robotic surgery including total mesorectal excision (TME) and complete mesocolic excision (CME), accompanied by technical commentary from experienced colorectal surgeons. The afternoon session begins with expert MSK and international colorectal surgeons discussing the modern surgical approaches to complex colorectal cancers followed by a multidisciplinary tumor board focused on these challenging surgical scenarios.

Friday, November 10, will begin with the Stuart Quan Lecture, presented by Dr. Zsofia Stadler, an expert on hereditary colorectal cancers. Next, a multidisciplinary panel will discuss the management of appendiceal, hereditary and colitis-associated cancers. The morning will end with a Nonoperative Management Workshop, bringing together MSK and international experts to discuss the nuts of bolts of the Watch-and-Wait strategy, its role in the modern management of rectal cancer, and new areas of discovery. The afternoon begins with presentations on the most impactful clinical trials in colorectal cancer from 2023. Finally, a multidisciplinary panel of MSK and international colorectal specialists will explore the clinical application of the topics discussed throughout the Symposium.

Who Should Attend

This Symposium is intended for medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, interventional radiologists, colorectal/hepatopancreatobiliary/oncologic surgeons, general surgeons, gastroenterologists, pathologists, and other oncology care team members interested in rectal cancer.

We invite attendees to join us in-person on the campus of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, a vibrant and safe neighborhood within easy access of the widely varied cultural attractions of New York City.

In-person attendees will be provided continental breakfast, lunch, and refreshment breaks. Additionally, in-person attendees are invited to the networking receptions on both Thursday and Friday evening. Please contact [email protected] at least one week prior to the course if you have any special dietary requests or require any specific accommodations.

A virtual option (via Zoom) is also available for those unable to join us in person. Access details, including a link to Zoom, will be emailed to virtual registrants prior to the start of the Symposium.

  3. Identify appropriate candidates for Watch and Wait
  4. Discuss evidence based practice recommendation for the management of hereditary and colitis-associated cancers
  5. Review evidence based practice in the management of LAMN

If you wish to cancel your participation in this course, you must email [email protected] at least seven (7) days prior to the start of the course, and your refund will be subject to a $25 administrative fee if attending virtually or a $100 administrative fee if attending in-person. Cancellations or no-shows within seven (7) days of the course are not eligible for a refund. Please note that if it has been more than 120 days since payment was processed, a W9 form must be submitted in order process your refund and your refund will be issued in the form of a check payment. Refunds are not subject to tax. You may substitute another registrant in your place at any time by contacting [email protected] with the appropriate information.

AMA Credit Designation Statement

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 14.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

MOC/CC Recognition Statement

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to:

  • 14.75 Medical Knowledge MOC Points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's Maintenance of Certification Assessment Recognition program; and
  • 14.75 Accredited CME and Self-Assessment MOC points in the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program.

It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM or ABS MOC credit.

MOC/CC must be submitted by Friday, December 8, 2023.
