The topics will focus on advances in epidemiology, pathology and imaging, medical and surgical management and radiation therapy. Complex skin cancer cases will be presented and discussed in a tumor board style with a multidisciplinary panel of experts.

The target audience includes physicians and allied health professionals, who care for patients with skin cancer, including dermatologists, surgical and medical oncologists, otolaryngologists, ophthalmologists, general surgeons, plastic surgeons, pathologists and radiation oncologists.

Reflectance Confocal Microscopy Workshop | Friday, November 1, 4:45–5:45 pm

Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) is a non-invasive device that images skin lesions at high resolution in vivo similar to traditional pathology. RCM has shown high sensitivity and specificity for detection of skin cancers (melanocytic and non-melanocytic). RCM has recently been granted Category I Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) reimbursement codes by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. RCM is now advancing as an add-on diagnostic tool to dermoscopy in clinics in the U.S., for early detection of skin cancers, while sparing un-necessary benign diagnosis. To expand RCM role in the clinical practice, there is a need for training a new generation of physicians - the future Confocalists. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Please note that CME credit will not be offered for the Reflectance Confocal Microscopy Workshop.

Objectives
  1. Describe melanoma and non melanoma skin cancer incidence and behavior
  2. Define factors contributing to behavior and outcome of skin cancers
  3. Define characteristics of skin cancers that require aggressive treatment
  4. Understand benefits, limitations, and integration of different modalities used in the treatment of skin
  5. Review novel approaches to optimize surgical treatment of skin cancers
  6. Assess role and variety of radiotherapeutic approaches to complex skin cancers
  7. Review role of biological therapy in the treatment of advanced skin cancers
  8. Examine the optimal approaches toward reconstruction of defects resulting from resection of skin
