Overview

The target audience for this symposium includes physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, physical and occupational therapy assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, cancer center administrators, healthcare students, social workers, case managers, psychologists and other healthcare professionals interested in cancer rehabilitation.

This symposium will provide healthcare professionals with new or enhanced knowledge that can be implemented in the evaluation and management of cancer and treatment-related impairments. Emphasis will be placed on how to address the rehabilitative needs of patients with adult and pediatric cancers.

This two-day symposium includes Friday afternoon plenary sessions followed by break-out sessions on Saturday that attendees may select during registration. Included in this program will be special “Meet the Experts” panels with both physicians and therapists to discuss program development with time for Q&A.

SYMPOSIUM OBJECTIVES


  1. Identify recent advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals living with cancer.
  2. Communicate new evidence-based practice and clinical treatment approaches to clinicians working with individuals across the cancer continuum.
  3. Discuss the interdisciplinary approach to the care of individuals with cancer to promote safe and effective rehabilitation at all stages of the cancer experience from initial diagnosis to palliative care.
  4. Discuss oncology rehabilitation program development with physician and therapy experts.
