Foundations in Neuro-Oncology for the Advanced Practice Provider

Neuro-oncology is a uniquely specialized field requiring providers to have extensive knowledge and understanding to optimize patient care. This course will provide a foundation for advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals, who wish to broaden their knowledge in the field of neuro-oncology and gain understanding in the complex management of patients living with cancers of the central nervous system.

This course will provide an overview of neuro-anatomy, management of primary and metastatic brain tumors, leptomeningeal disease, central nervous system lymphoma, as well as, rapid assessment and interventions of neuro-oncologic emergencies. Further discussion will include best practices in supportive care and communication techniques for the neuro-oncology patient and their caregivers. Recent advances in treatments for this complex patient population will also be discussed.

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for APPs, nurse practitioner students, physician assistant students, clinical nurse specialists, registered nurses, and physicians. Live Virtual Format

This live virtual program will be delivered using Zoom. We encourage all attendees to download the Zoom app prior to the start of the course (zoom.us/download). CME credit will be offered for this live virtual program. Detailed access and credit instructions will be emailed to attendees prior to the start of the course.

1. Differentiate between primary brain tumors, secondary brain tumors and central nervous system lymphoma.
2. Describe the treatment of primary and secondary brain tumors and advances in novel therapies.
3. Gain competence in the recognition and treatment of neuro-oncologic emergencies including neuromuscular disorders, status epilepticus, increased intracranial pressure, and ischemic stroke.
4. Employ evidence-based practice regarding supportive care for the neuro-oncologic patient and caregiver.

Cancellation Policy

For all other registrations: If you wish to cancel your participation in this course, you must email [email protected] at least seven (7) days prior to the start of the course, and your refund will be subject to a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations or no-shows within seven (7) days of the course are not eligible for a refund. Please note that if it has been more than 120 days since payment was processed, a W9 form must be submitted in order process your refund and your refund will be issued in the form of a check payment. Refunds are not subject to tax. You may substitute another registrant in your place at any time by contacting [email protected] with the appropriate information.
