Overview

The 8th Joint MSK/HSS/IOR Course in Musculoskeletal Tumor Pathology and Clinical Oncology is designed to give a current review of musculoskeletal tumor pathology and principles of management to orthopaedic surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, radiologists and pathologists.  This course covers the most common and clinically relevant benign and malignant musculoskeletal tumors from diagnosis to integrated treatment and outcome.

This course is in collaboration with Hospital for Special Surgery and Instituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, Bologna, Italy.

There will not be an online syllabus available for this course.

This course is sold out.

Objectives
This course is designed to provide participants a thorough multidisciplinary exposure to current diagnosis, management and outcome of musculoskeletal oncology and potential future developments, including pathology, imaging, pediatric/medical oncology, surgery and radiation oncology of primary bone and soft tissue tumors and metastatic disease.

  1. Participants will learn the essentials for a rationale approach to diagnosis and management of the most common bone and soft tissue tumors and tumor-like conditions
  2. Current multimodal management of bone and soft tissue malignancies, including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and novel systemic options, will be extensively discussed along with future perspectives.
  3. Clinical, pathologic and molecular features of the various entities will be reviewed and discussed, with emphasis on differential diagnosis. For bone lesions in particular, an articulated multidisciplinary pattern recognition approach based on clinico-radiographic and pathologic correlation will be highlighted.
  4. The format will include interactive sessions for questions and case presentation, in order to practice multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and management. The main topics of each day will be reviewed the next day during an early morning interactive session of numerous board-like multiple-choice questions.
