Overview

Dermoscopy permits the observer to visualize skin structures located below the stratum corneum that are not visible to the unaided eye. The morphology visualized through dermoscopy has lead to improved clinical diagnostic accuracy with increased sensitivity and specificity for the detection of cutaneous malignancies.  This educational activity is designed for Dermatologists, Family Physicians, General Internists, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.

Objectives
  1. Outline a logical and easy to follow framework for the dermoscopic evaluation of cutaneous lesions.
  2. Identify the features of both melanocytic and non-melanocytic lesions.
  3. Describe a management approach, based on dermoscopic findings, to correctly identify lesions requiring biopsy.
