Overview

This symposium is designed to provide a platform for discussion of relevant and emerging issues in palliative care, including pharmacological management, special populations, research, and complex case discussions. Presentations will include panel discussions, case studies and lectures by leading professionals in the field.

The goal is to inform best practices, provide professional empowerment and inspiration, and to further the APP role within and beyond the palliative care specialty.

This course will include both primary and specialty palliative care content, appropriate for any RNs, APPs, Social Workers, Chaplains, and/or MDs interested in incorporating palliative care into their practice. The majority of this content will be applicable to any practice setting and not limited to care in the oncology population. 

Call for Abstracts

Participants are invited to submit an abstract for presentation at the course. Abstracts for the poster session will be selected on the basis of scientific merit and content quality. To submit an abstract for presentation, please select the 'Abstract' button above. The deadline for abstracts submissions is June 7, 2019.


Objectives
  1. Implement high-quality palliative care in diverse care settings
  2. Understand and apply safe opioid management
  3. Describe innovative symptom management techniques
  4. Discuss patient values, wishes, and goals including advance care planning
  5. Enhance proficiency with goals of care conversations and delivery of difficult news
  6. Describe population-specific palliative care concerns
  7. Discuss the importance of the early introduction of palliative care in any practice
  8. Strengthen inter professional ties through communication, information sharing, and networking
  9. Highlight the importance of the evolving APP role in palliative care
  10. Explore current APP-driven research initiatives
  11. Optimize evidence-based practice in end-of-life care and symptom management

 Physicians (MDs, PhDs and DOs)   $200 
 Advanced Practice Providers   $150 
 Residents, Fellows, Nurses, and Other Healthcare Providers   $125 
 Industry Professionals*   $350

Course registration includes continental breakfast, lunch, and refreshment breaks. Please contact [email protected] at least one week prior to the course if you have any special dietary requests or require any specific accommodations.

*Industry professionals may attend MSK CME activities for their own education. Marketing, sales, and promotion of products and services is strictly prohibited at MSK CME activities.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your participation in this course, your registration fee, less a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded when email notification is received by the MSK Office of Continuing Medical Education (MSK CME) at least 7 days prior to the first day of the course ([email protected]).

Please note that those who receive the early rate of $75 will not be eligible for refunds.

Cancellations or no-shows after this date are not eligible for a refund. MSK CME reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event we must cancel or postpone this course, we will refund the registration fee in full, but are not responsible for any related costs, charges, or expenses to participants, including fees incurred by airline/travel/lodging agencies. At any time, you may substitute another registrant in your place after contacting MSK CME with the relevant information.
