Overview
The theme of the meeting will be “Cell-of-Origin in Hematologic Malignancies”. Two or more hematologic neoplasms may be found concurrently at the same site as a composite malignancy, or at different sites. They may also occur metachronously. These hematologic neoplasms may be of the same or different lineages. Comparative molecular analysis and cellular analyses of these “paired” neoplasms have suggested that at least in a subset of cases, they are derived from the same precursor cell, revealing interesting insights on clonal evolution and plasticity, as well as mechanisms of pathogenesis of hematologic neoplasms, frequently challenging our notions regarding the cells from which hematologic cancers arise (e.g. co-occurrence of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and myeloid neoplasms such as histiocytic sarcoma and interdigitating cell sarcoma). We would like to invite case presentations related to this topic, which should ideally include clinicopathologic, cytogenetic, and molecular characterization. These studies should advance our understanding of clonal and cellular origins of hematologic malignancies.
