Overview

Originally held live on November 7—8, 2024, this annual symposium focuses on the surgical and multidisciplinary management of colorectal cancer, featuring national and international leaders in Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. Highlights from the 2024 program include:

— Live surgical presentations streamed directly from MSK's operating rooms, featuring cutting-edge techniques and discussions on robotic right and left colectomy and robotic proctectomy.
— A keynote address from Dr. Emmanouil Fokas, who delivered the prestigious Stuart H.Q. Quan Lecture, offering a forward-looking perspective on the future of radiation therapy for rectal cancer.
— Updates on recent clinical trials, including ACO/ARO/AIO-21, OCHESTRA, and the Phase III RELARC trial.
— Presentations on critical updates in surgical decision-making, controversies in nonoperative management of locally advanced rectal cancer, and the latest advancements in the treatments for metastatic colorectal cancer.

This program is tailored for medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, colorectal/hepatopancreatobiliary/oncologic surgeons, gastroenterologists, pathologists, and other oncology care team members dedicated to improving rectal cancer care.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe the requirements for a successful multidisciplinary colorectal cancer program
  2. Explain recent updates and clinical trials in colorectal cancer
  3. Identify appropriate candidates for "Watch and Wait"
  4. Discuss evidence-based practice recommendations for the management of hereditary and colitis-associated cancers
  5. Review evidence-based practices in the management of Low-grade mucinous neoplasms (LAMN)
