Overview

Live Virtual Experience

We are excited to announce that this course will be delivered as a virtual experience. By registering for the live virtual course, you will be able to view presentations, hear live audio, and interact online.

All sessions presented live on Saturday, December 5, 2020 will be recorded and made available to attendees for viewing after the course. CME and ABIM MOC credit will be offered for this course and a certificate will be available after a post-course evaluation is complete.

This live virtual course will be delivered using Zoom. We encourage all attendees to download the Zoom app prior to the start of the course (zoom.us/download). Additional access details will be emailed to all attendees before the course.

After completion of this didactic and case-based educational activity, participants will be up to date on the latest developments in ongoing basic and translational science as well as the clinical management of patients with pituitary conditions. Participants will be able to:

  • Review available and emerging medical therapies for Cushing’s and acromegaly
  • Discuss new mechanisms and therapies for aggressive and malignant tumors
  • Understand decision making involved in surgical intervention for pituitary tumors
  • Get an overview on potential surgical complications
  • Describe the role of radiation therapy for pituitary tumors
  • Discuss mechanisms of immunotherapy-related pituitary dysfunction
  • Assess advances in neuroimaging and tumor markers that may predict tumor behavior and clinical outcomes

Overall this course aims to improve patient care and outcomes through evidence-based discussion of clinical practice guidelines and emerging therapies. Our goal is to assess and update current practices to promote earlier diagnosis and treatment of pituitary diseases. The multidisciplinary nature of the course will allow for dissemination of knowledge across the variety of practitioners caring for pituitary patients, and for the patients themselves.

Provider/Clinical Track

Request for Case Submissions - There will be a tumor board during the provider/clinical breakout session where attendees and faculty will review cases. Attendees will have an opportunity to submit a case for discussion during the course at registration. In order to prepare your submission, we ask that you provide a BRIEF summary of your case and include key lab results. Please ensure that all identifiable PHI has been removed. Cases should have an educational purpose. The course faculty will not be able to provide a detailed/complex consult review during the course and they will try to get through as many cases as possible.

Patient Track

We also invite patients with pituitary disease and their caregivers to attend this educational activity and participate in our interactive afternoon breakout sessions. Pituitary patients will be able to review treatment options, learn about ongoing clinical trials, and discuss their comprehensive care with providers and other patients. The educational objective of this patient session is to provide a forum for pituitary patients to discuss treatment options and new therapies with providers and other patients. Please note AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ will not be offered for the patient breakout session.

MSK is pleased to invite patients and caregivers to attend this course on a complimentary basis.
If you are a patient or caregiver interested in attending, please email [email protected] to register (registration is required in order to attend).

Target Audience

This course is intended for endocrinologists, neurosurgeons, otolaryngologists, radiation oncologists, neurologists, ophthalmologists, neuro-oncologists, family medicine and internal medicine physicians, physicians in training and other allied health professionals who treat and manage patients with pituitary diseases. We also invite patients with pituitary disease and their caregivers to attend this educational activity and participate in our interactive afternoon breakout sessions.

Objectives
  1. Review the efficacy and side effect profiles of treatment options, including emerging therapies, for Cushing’s and acromegaly
  2. Discuss surgical outcomes and risk management for pituitary and skull base tumors
  3. Describe recent advances in pituitary neuropathology and neuroimaging
  4. Critically appraise the role of radiation therapy in the management of pituitary tumors
  5. Debate treatment decisions supporting the use and timing of new therapies for aggressive and malignant pituitary tumors
  6. Provide a forum for pituitary patients to discuss treatment options and new therapies with providers and other patients
