Overview

This one-day live virtual rectal cancer symposium will feature expert faculty from the United States and Europe. The program will focus on a team approach to the multimodality management of early and advanced rectal cancer. Unique aspects of preoperative treatment for upper vs. mid/lower rectal cancer will be debated. The selection of patients for neoadjuvant therapy will be described, including the use of radiologic and molecular biomarkers. Subsequently, optimal surgical approaches will be explained and debated.

A feature of this year’s program is a MSK faculty-led practical Watch and Wait Workshop. Experts will describe the process of selecting neoadjuvant therapy with intent for the wait and wait (W&W), assessing clinical response, and conducting ongoing surveillance. The W&W workshop will conclude with real-life case discussions to illustrate and demonstrate the key themes of a W&W program.

Finally, the program will include surgical demo videos, case presentations, and updates on recent landmark rectal cancer clinical trials, Rapido, OPRA, and Prodige 23, by their investigators and discussed by expert guest faculty.

Who Should Attend

This symposium is intended for medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, colorectal/hepatopancreatobiliary/oncologic surgeons, gastroenterologists, pathologists, and other oncology care team members interested in rectal cancer.
