Overview

Radiologic imaging affects all oncology patients. This one-day virtual course is designed to address a learning gap in APP knowledge on radiologic interpretation by providing a general overview of radiologic interpretation in the oncology population including imaging of the neck, breast, chest, abdomen, pelvis, brain, spine, extremity, and whole body, including pediatric considerations. Modalities discussed will include X-Ray, ultrasound computed tomography (CT) scan, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and nuclear imaging scans. Based on the positive feedback we received from last year's program, we have added multiple case studies throughout the day to reinforced the content learned and highlight the significance of radiologic interpretation through the cancer care continuum.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse practitioner students, physician assistant students, clinical nurse specialists, nurses, radiology assistants, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and physicians. Please note that registration for this program is complimentary for residents, fellows, APP students, and nursing students (details below).

Live Virtual Format

This live virtual program will be delivered using Zoom. We encourage all attendees to download the Zoom app prior to the start of the course (zoom.us/download). CME credit will be offered for this live virtual program. Detailed access and credit instructions will be emailed to attendees prior to the start of the course.

Objectives
  1. Gain a basic understanding of the principles and interpretation of common imaging modalities and translate the knowledge learned to clinical practice
  2. Identify the clinical indications for and selection criteria of various imaging modalities
  3. Recognize common abnormalities on various radiology examinations
  4. Address challenges and limitations of the various imaging modalities
  5. Discuss the differential diagnosis for common radiographic findings
  6. Explain the role of imaging in cancer screening, staging, and surveillance
