Overview

This unique course delivers cutting-edge updates on the multidisciplinary approaches to managing complex skin cancers, including high-risk squamous cell carcinoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, and melanoma. Advances in complex skin malignancies will be presented and discussed in a collaborative tumor board format, featuring a distinguished panel of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center experts from Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Medical, Surgical, and Ophthalmic Oncology, Pathology, and Radiation Oncology. With a focus on novel diagnostic methods and updates in tumor classification, attendees will gain valuable insights into the contemporary practices that are shaping the field.

This year’s program will encompass:

  • Recent advances in Squamous Cell Carcinoma, including developments in staging, neoadjuvant, and innovative treatment modalities.
  • Multidisciplinary case-based discussion on hereditary cancer syndromes, including Lynch and Gorlin.
  • Update on Merkel Cell Carcinoma including the latest breakthroughs and insights.
  • New case-based session focused on Mohs tissue processing for eyelid, nail, ear skin malignancies and reconstruction techniques
  • Pearls and advances in modern approaches, addressing prevention, wound healing, scar revision, and noninvasive imaging.
  • Recent advances and hot topics in the management and treatment of melanoma, including neoadjuvant and TIL therapy.
  • Key sessions will culminate in a multidisciplinary tumor board, encouraging active participation and questions from attendees.

Ample time will be provided for networking during breaks and fostering professional collaborations among attendees and our esteemed faculty members. As this course is ideally suited for an in-person format, a virtual option will not be available.

The course is intended for physicians and allied health professionals, who care for patients with skin cancer, including dermatologists, surgical and medical oncologists, otolaryngologists, ophthalmologists, general surgeons, plastic surgeons, pathologists, and radiation oncologists.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe melanoma and non melanoma skin cancer incidence and staging systems
  2. Define characteristics of skin cancers that require multidisciplinary treatment
  3. Assess role and variety of radio-therapeutic approaches to complex skin cancer
  4. Review role of biological therapy in the treatment of advanced skin cancer
  5. Review novel approaches to optimize surgical treatment of skin cancers
