Overview

Technological advancements revolutionized our ability to diagnose and treat thoracic diseases bronchoscopically. Endobronchial ultrasound is the standard of care in the diagnosis and staging of thoracic malignancy as well as benign diseases. Robotic bronchoscopy can allow the access of peripheral pulmonary lesions with unprecedented precision and accuracy. Optimally performing these procedures, in appropriate patients, is paramount and requires proper education and training. This year, there will be special emphasis on integrating advanced imaging modality during the robotic bronchoscopy and reviewing video of recorded live cases.

Join expert faculty for this highly-anticipated annual course, which will review these crucial advanced diagnostic and staging procedures, how to optimize performance, and provides optional hands-on workshops for in-person attendees.

2023 Lecture Topics (available in-person or virtually)

  • EBUS TBNA
  • Robotic Assisted Bronchoscopy
  • Advanced Imaging for Robotic Bronchoscopy (NEW!)
  • Cryobiopsy (lymph node and lung)
  • Cytology and Molecular Analysis
  • Preoperative Education
  • Implementing New Technology
  • Operationalizing Change

Ample time will be provided for Q&A and discussion with the course faculty. Additionally, a variety of recorded videos of live cases will be reviewed by the faculty.

Hands-On Workshops (available in-person only)

The hands-on workshops are limited to 30 participants to allow for maximum interaction with course faculty and ample hands-on experience. Additional fees do apply for the in-person workshop, please see registration for details. Workshop topics include:

  • Robotic Assisted Bronchoscopy
  • EBUS TBNA
  • Peripheral EBUS
  • Cryobiopsy (lung and lymph nodes)
  • Cytology

Who Should Attend

The course is intended for practicing Pulmonologists, Intensivists, and Thoracic Surgeons, as well as trainees, RNs, APPs, RTs, and cytotechnologists, interested in advancing their understanding of advanced bronchoscopy for diagnostics, including robotic-assisted bronchoscopy, radial endobronchial ultrasound, and other navigational bronchoscopy, and cytologic specimen processing.

  • In-person Registration
    • Available for both the lectures as well as the hands-on workshops.
    • While MSK requests that institutional guests are vaccinated against COVID-19, we are no longer requiring proof of vaccination. Additional details, including our current Health and Safety Protocols, can be accessed on our Visiting Us page.
    • Included in registration, attendees will be provided continental breakfast, lunch, and refreshment breaks. Please contact [email protected] at least one week prior to the course if you have any special dietary requests or require any specific accommodations.
  • Virtual Registration
    • Available for the lectures only.
    • The virtual option for this program will be delivered via Zoom. Access details will be emailed prior to the start of the course.

Online Syllabus

Registered attendees will receive access to an online syllabus after the course, which includes select PDFs of the faculty presentations (slides) and recorded videos from the course. MSK CME will email attendees when this becomes available. Attendees must check in on the day of the course in order to receive access to the syllabus.

This educational activity is endorsed by the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP).
Objectives
  1. Implement advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy for peripheral pulmonary lesions, including radial endobronchial ultrasound, robotic bronchoscopy
  2. Explain the science and recognize the importance of cytology and specimen processing
  3. Discuss the science, technique, and role of cryobiopsy during bronchoscopy
  4. Recognize the role of advanced imaging during bronchoscopy
