Overview

Originally held live on October 8, 2024, we're excited to offer and on-demand option for the inaugural MSK Kids Surgery Symposium. Surgical interventions play a vital role in the care of many pediatric oncology patients. Effectively managing this complex and specialized patient population requires a multidisciplinary approach to achieve optimal outcomes.

This engaging symposium features a combination of lectures, panel discussions, and case presentations led by world-renowned experts. Topics include the latest advancements in pediatric oncology surgery, including innovative surgical techniques, the development and coordination of interdisciplinary teams, evidence-based practices, groundbreaking research initiatives, and strategies to enhance access to care and supportive services For more information about this program, including a detailed list of presentations, please click here to view the brochure from the live symposium.

This program is designed to empower healthcare professionals—including physicians, certified registered nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and others involved in the care of pediatric oncology patients undergoing surgery—to deliver state-of-the-art collaborative care, improve patient outcomes, and enhance the quality of life for patients and their families.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, attendees will be able to:

  1. Identify surgical techniques utilized in pediatric oncology and discuss how surgery affects overall outcomes
  2. Review multimodal postoperative pain management techniques
  3. Address barriers to access of care and financial toxicities
  4. Describe the importance of patient and family experience while undergoing/recovering from surgical procedures
  5. Review the role of ERAS and impact on patient care
