Overview

This one-day virtual course provides a comprehensive overview of cancers of the central nervous system (CNS), highlighting current management strategies, emerging therapies, and neuro-oncologic emergencies. Neuro-oncology is a highly specialized field that demands advanced clinical knowledge and multidisciplinary coordination to optimize patient outcomes. This course offers a strong foundation in the principles and evolving practices of neuro-oncologic care.

Topics include:

  • Foundational neuroanatomy

  • Management of primary and metastatic brain tumors

  • Leptomeningeal disease and central nervous system lymphoma

  • Rapid assessment and intervention for neuro-oncologic emergencies

  • Best practices in supportive care and communication with patients and caregivers

Participants will also gain insight into recent therapeutic advances shaping the care of this complex patient population.

This course is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, clinical pharmacy specialists, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with central nervous system cancers.


Objectives
  1. Differentiate treatment of primary brain tumors, secondary brain tumors and central nervous system lymphoma.
  2. Explore the pearls of basic and advanced neuro-radiology techniques.
  3. Gain confidence in the recognition and treatment of neuro-oncologic emergencies.
  4. Employ evidence-based practice regarding supportive care for the neuro-oncologic patient and caregiver.
