Overview

The incidence of pancreas cancer continues to rise, and related morbidity and mortality remain unacceptably high. Treatment approaches continue to evolve with better insights into disease pathogenesis and progression.

This day and a half long, in-person symposium is a combined effort of MSK’s Hepatopancreatobiliary Disease Management Team (HPB DMT) and Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research (CPCR) and will provide a comprehensive review of the epidemiology, genomic, and immunologic features of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and how advances in these areas are impacting current management.

The program will include an emphasis on contemporary management approaches in patients with resectable and unresectable disease, the respective roles of and outcomes of chemotherapy (adjuvant/neoadjuvant/palliative) and radiation therapy (standard/ablative), and a discussion of novel and emerging therapies, including immunotherapy, vaccines, and genomic-directed therapies. Didactic sessions will be supplemented with several case presentations with audience participation. We will also feature a presentation from one of our patients recently treated for pancreas cancer.

Who Should Attend*

This symposium is intended for medical and surgical oncologists, gastroenterologists, internal medicine specialists, pathologists, geneticists, pharmacists, supportive care staff, advanced practice practitioners, nurses, trainees, and other disciplines. MSK is pleased to extend a complimentary invitation to patients/caregivers who wish to attend this program (details below).

*This program will be held IN-PERSON only. Please note that all in-person attendees must be vaccinated against COVID-19. Additional details, including our current Health and Safety Protocols can be accessed on our Visiting Us page.

Networking Reception

Attendees of this program are invited to join the course faculty for a networking reception from 5:00-6:00 pm on Friday evening in the lobby of Zuckerman Research Center. Hors d'oeuvre and refreshments will be served.
Objectives
  1. Update the genetic and molecular hallmarks of pancreas cancer
  2. Outline current diagnostic approaches in patients with pancreas cancer
  3. Describe contemporary surgical strategies, including the role of vascular reconstruction
  4. Review contemporary non-surgical therapies in the adjuvant, neoadjuvant and palliative settings
  5. Define novel and emerging therapies
