Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer Training Series: Detecting Lobular Breast Cancer — The Challenges of Imaging: A Curriculum for Breast Imagers

The Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer Training Series is a complimentary educational initiative hosted by the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance. Designed to provide in-depth knowledge and practical insights into the diagnosis, treatment, and management of Invasive Lobular Carcinoma, this series features a range of presentations designed to meet the learning needs of clinicians across disciplines.

Join us on May 28 from 12:00 to 1:15 PM (Eastern Time) for our complimentary virtual presentation on Detecting Lobular Breast Cancer — The Challenges of Imaging: A Curriculum for Breast Imagers. This session will explore key diagnostic challenges and considerations in imaging Invasive Lobular Carcinoma. A live Q&A will follow the presentation.

This educational activity is designed for radiologists, breast imagers, and other healthcare professionals involved in breast imaging and diagnosis. It may also be of interest to trainees, technologists, and members of multidisciplinary breast care teams who support diagnostic evaluation and patient management.

1. Understand the pathophysiology behind the unique growth patterns and subtle appearance of invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) on imaging and why it often eludes early detection on standard mammography.
2. Recognize the appearance of invasive lobular carcinoma on breast imaging modalities including digital breast tomosynthesis and ultrasound.
3. Identify advanced imaging modalities that may improve diagnosis and evaluation of extent of disease of invasive lobular carcinoma, such as MRI and contrast enhanced mammography.
