Overview

This one-day, in-person symposium provides a state-of-the-art update on benign hematology, hemostasis, and thrombosis, highlighting emerging therapies and contemporary approaches to patient management. Designed for hematologists, oncologists, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with benign hematologic disorders, the program will focus on the latest evidence and evolving clinical practices in the field.

Key topics for 2026 include:

  • Advances in venous thromboembolism (VTE) management, including pulmonary embolism, thrombosis in multiple myeloma, and novel anticoagulant strategies such as factor XI inhibitors.

  • Interventional and device-related thrombosis, with updates on post-thrombotic syndrome and venous stenting.

  • Hematologic complications of cancer therapy, including chemotherapy-induced cytopenias, the use of thrombopoietin receptor agonists, and immunotherapy-related complications such as hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).

  • Emerging concepts in immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), featuring patient-centered perspectives and novel therapeutic approaches.

Through expert-led presentations and interactive discussions, participants will explore challenging real-world management scenarios in thrombosis, cancer-associated cytopenias, and immune-mediated platelet disorders. The program will emphasize multidisciplinary care, emerging therapeutics, and the integration of new evidence into clinical practice. Ample time will be dedicated to audience questions and discussion with faculty, fostering practical learning and clinical application.

This symposium will be offered exclusively in person at Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Zuckerman Research Center. Please note that virtual participation will not be available. For information about accommodations, parking, directions, and planning your visit, please refer to our Visiting Us page.

Following the conclusion of the symposium, participants will receive access to an online syllabus containing PDF copies of the faculty presentations.

Objectives
  1. Review contemporary management of VTE, including pulmonary embolism, myeloma-associated thrombosis, and factor XI inhibitors
  2. Discuss management of device- and intervention-related thrombosis, including venous stents and cardiac thrombi
  3. Identify and treat hematologic complications of cancer therapy, including cytopenias and immune-related syndromes
  4. Evaluate emerging therapies and patient-centered approaches in immune thrombocytopenia (ITP)
