Overview

The field of oncologic emergencies has evolved rapidly over the past 15+ years, advancing in parallel with the ongoing development of cancer treatments and interventions. While complications from traditional chemotherapies remain common, the rise of novel cancer treatments has introduced a broader and more complex spectrum of patient presentations—many of which are now increasingly encountered in emergency departments across the country. With few dedicated cancer-specific emergency rooms, these patients are often inappropriately triaged, misdiagnosed, under-treated, or redirected to their oncologists without adequate resolution of their urgent concerns.

Now in its eighth year, this course brings together specialists from across all areas of the cancer treatment spectrum to provide emergency department providers and staff with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively manage both common and uncommon oncologic emergencies.

This course is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and registered nurses involved in the treatment and management of patients with active malignancies/cancers who present with acute complaints in an emergent room setting. We are pleased to offer flexible learning options, with the opportunity to participate live in person or virtually, or register for on demand access to the recorded program.

Flexible Learning Options

Live Participation (In Person or Virtually): Attend the course live on December 4–5, either in person at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or virtually via Zoom. All live participants will have the opportunity to engage with faculty through interactive Q&A sessions. Participants may claim credit for the live activity and will receive access to the online course syllabus following the symposium. Register for Live Participation

On Demand Access: View the recorded presentations, complete the enduring activity, and claim credit at your convenience. The on demand program will be available a few weeks after the live event. Those who register for on demand access will be notified as soon as the content becomes available. Register for On Demand Access

Objectives
