Overview

We're excited to offer an on demand option for our 25th-anniversary celebration of innovation in integrative oncology, originally held live in New York City on May 17, 2024. This symposium explores advancements in evidence-based, patient-centered care within integrative medicine. Led by expert speakers, this program guides participants through effective methods for managing symptoms and side effects associated with cancer treatment, such as pain, anxiety, and fatigue, using integrative strategies including exercise, nutrition, acupuncture, massage, meditation, yoga, and music therapy.

Additionally, faculty review how to build meaningful collaborations to increase equitable access to these therapies throughout the patient care journey. This symposium serves as a platform for fostering a comprehensive understanding of integrative medicine, highlighting current achievements, and identifying avenues for growth in delivering holistic and patient-focused care.

Symposium Highlights and Session Topics

  • WELCOME ADDRESS: 25 Years of Integrative Oncology to Support the Mind, Body, and Spirit of People Impacted by Cancer
  • KEYNOTE ADDRESS & MEDICINE GRAND ROUNDS: Clinical Trials to Inform Evidence-Based Integrative Oncology
  • AWARENESS: From Evidence to Practice Change: Implementing Integrative Medicine into Standard of Care
  • COLLABORATION: Virtual Integrative Medicine Programming: Improving the Patient Experience and Health System Outcomes
  • INNOVATION: Advancing Care Delivery Models and Research
  • ACCESS: Ensuring Equitable Access for Diverse Communities

Attendee Feedback from the Live Symposium

This was a robust, fantastic program! (Social Worker)

Amazing selection of Scientists, Clinicians, Practitioners and Politicians! (Technician)

It was very though provoking. Excellent presentations. I genuinely enjoyed! (Nurse)

I plan to refer my patients on active treatment to integrative medicine at home to improve their symptom control and reduce acute care visits. (Physician)

The symposium is intended for all healthcare providers (physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and integrative medicine providers) who diagnose, manage, and treat side effects of cancer treatment along with those who develop programs (administrators) to improve quality of life for people with cancer.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, attendees will be able to:

  1. Highlight advances in patient-centered care in integrative medicine and opportunities for growth
  2. Improve awareness of evidence-based integrative medicine innovations in symptom management and care delivery
