Overview

Early recognition and management of precancerous gastrointestinal (GI) disorders are essential to cancer prevention and early detection. As our understanding of the pathogenesis of these conditions evolves, treatment algorithms continue to advance. In parallel, emerging endoscopic techniques play an increasingly critical role — not only in surveillance, diagnosis, and treatment of early-stage disease, but also in the palliative care of patients with advanced GI malignancies.

This on-demand program features recordings from a one-day live course held at MSK on September 26, 2025, and provides a comprehensive update on contemporary approaches to the diagnosis, management, and surveillance of disorders affecting the luminal gastrointestinal tract, liver, and pancreatobiliary system.

Key Highlights Include:

  • Sidney J Winawer, MD Lectureship: Management of Immunotherapy-Related Gastrointestinal Adverse Effects

  • Management of Pre-Cancerous Lesions: Barrett’s esophagus, gastric intestinal metaplasia, H. pylori, pancreatic cysts, and inflammatory bowel disease

  • Endoscopic Management of GI Malignancies: Endoscopic ultrasound, management of luminal obstruction, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and treatment of leaks, fistulae, and perforations

  • Nutrition and GI Symptom Management: Enteral and parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy- and radiation-induced GI toxicity, and GI/interventional radiology approaches to bleeding

  • Liver Disease and Cancer: Evaluation of abnormal liver chemistries, screening for hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma, surgical management of cancer in the cirrhotic patient, and interventional radiology strategies for portal hypertension

This on-demand activity includes recordings of expert-led didactic lectures and case-based discussions designed to support the practical application of key concepts in clinical practice. A complete list of presentations and faculty is available in the brochure from the live course.

This program is designed for physicians and healthcare professionals caring for patients with GI, liver, and pancreatobiliary disorders, including gastroenterologists, oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, fellows, and residents.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize the diagnosis and management of immunotherapy related GI complications
  2. Describe the role of endoscopy in the surveillance, diagnosis, management and palliation of premalignant and malignant GI disorders
  3. Discuss the management of GI bleeding, nutrition and chemotherapy and radiation-induced GI toxicity in the cancer patient
  4. Explain the evaluation and management of abnormal liver chemistries, screening for hepatocellular carcinoma/cholangiocarcinoma and portal hypertension related complications in the cancer patient
