Overview

On November 14, 2025, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), in collaboration with MediSys Health Network, presented the third Achieving Health Equity in Cancer Care Conference, with support from the MSK Ralph Lauren Center and the City College of New York–Memorial Sloan Kettering Partnership Program for Cancer Research.

This annual conference brings together experts across disciplines to explore practical strategies for advancing health equity in underserved populations. The program includes globally and nationally recognized speakers, as well as leaders from community hospitals, offering a 360-degree perspective on effective, equitable cancer care delivery.

The 2025 conference theme—Harnessing the Power of Research, Technology, and Community-Based Partnerships—focused on the role of innovation and collaboration in improving access, outcomes, and equity in cancer care. Sessions explored the impact of technology on care delivery, the geography of disease, academic–community partnerships, and community-anchored models of care.

Key highlights included:

  • Keynote presentations by Dr. Otis Brawley (Johns Hopkins University) on Cancer Control in the 21st Century With an Emphasis on Implementation of What Works and Dr. Cardinale Smith (MSK) on The Power of Partnership: Operationalizing Community Engagement for Equitable Cancer Outcomes.

  • Spotlight session on The Origin, Development, and Principles of Patient Navigation with Dr. Harold Freeman.

  • A shared case presentation and panel discussion highlighting the affiliation between MSK and Jamaica Hospital.

Additional sessions showcased innovative community partnerships, research initiatives, and practical tools designed to advance equitable cancer care delivery. A complete list of presentations and faculty is available in the brochure from the live symposium.

This on-demand program is complimentary and available to all.
